“You awaken to find yourself in a Labyrinth. Shifting walls opening to alternate realities. Three worlds of Steampunk, Fantasy & Mythology collide. Arrive costumed to blend into those themes & ready for an Immersive Theatrical Experience, as a multizoned dance party with full sound, light and magic systems unfolds around you.”
What is Immersive Theatrical Experience?
Immersive Theatrical Experience is a new form of entertainment, where you are brought into a fictional environment, out of your reality. It’s different to seeing a movie, or going to theatre, because there are no clear lines between the audience and the stage, you don’t really know who are the actors and who are the audience, you just know that the conversations are getting really wierd and a number of the people at the party are evidently in a completely different universe. As the action unfolds you can choose to interact with the central characters and shape the drama that unfolds, or you can dance, socialise and enjoy the experience.
Unlike traditional theatre, where the audience watches the actors on a stage from a distance, immersive theatre invites the audience to enter the world of the performance and interact with the actors, the environment, and each other. Immersive theatre can take place in various locations, such as warehouses, nightclubs, homes, or even hospitals or other public spaces. It can also use different techniques, such as site-specificity, improvisation, participation, environmental design, and sensory stimulation. The aim of immersive theatre is to blur the boundaries between reality and fiction, and to create a unique and memorable experience for each audience member.
Labyrinth Circus takes place in a purpose built warehouse at a dance party, with 7 DJs across multiple rooms as a labyrinth appears opening doors to three different worlds, steampunk, fantasy and mythological. Guests are encouraged to come costumed as adventurers or inhabitants of these worlds to enjoy a night of entertainment, and should expect to see various forms of performance art unfolding around them throughout the night. Participation is encouraged but there is no pressure, and the event can be enjoyed from the dancefloor as a casual observer.
This party is a ticketed event with high production value, unique immersive environment, a banging multi-room DJ line up and a team of collaborative artists producing a unique interactive entertainment experience unlike anything you might have seen before.
It should be noted that this event is Labour weekend when ‘armageddon’ sci-fi- con is also on, so if costumes are to be hired then they should be booked without delay!
DJs to be announced, for now grab your tickets, plan your costume and save the date.
